wow. just wow. this page is fantastic, and such a contrast to the earlier page showing his trip TO school. man, i can’t even pick a favourite panel, they’re all so amazing! awesome work!
I’m kinda worried about that giant in panel 3. As I understand it, spirits can’t see through solid objects, but they can pass through them–and they can’t pass through Spectrals. So if he decides to take a walk down by the school, he’ll pass through all the other kids, but squash the entire Activity Club flat. Suzy will finally break into their club room and find all their crushed corpses on the floor, and blood dripping from the ceiling, where the ceiling tiles scraped the bodies off the giant’s foot.
Yup. That giant is totally the most disturbing image in the comic to date. And that’s counting every one of Ed’s appearances.
Come to think of it, the idea that spectrals can touch both spiritual and regular things, despite those two being unable to touch each other most of the time, leads to a LOT of uncomfortable questions..
Worse – He could push all the spectrals up against the wall with tremendous force, potentially breaking down a chunk of the school and killing many more… D:
Ooo, very nice little mirroring/callback/whatever of an earlier page. Also, my word that two-headed-Loch-Ness-Monster-thing in panel 2. It is way too freakin’ huge. I am well pleased by this. It is my new favorite monster thing.
Just from the extradimensioal spirits moving about in the comic panels and the art style, I would definitely say you are a fan of Hayao Miyazaki and the his film “Spirited Away”. A lot of the spirits have the look of the many wild ones from that great movie.
My gawd this page is awesome.
As if Mayview didn’t look awesome enough before, now it’s got American Spirited Away happening all over it.
Agree!
Welcome to The New (Para)Normal, Max…

This is a distinct possibility in keeping with the laws of the Paranatural universe.

I’ve been repeatedly looking over the page and I’ve no idea what you’re talking about. What giant? Where is it?
In panel 3 & 4, on the right-ish, on the slope of the hill.
@SaladinShui
Thank you. For that horrific image that will surely haunt me in my sleep.
This makes me question whether I’m trippin’ on acid. Not that I even know what that is. /contemplative
What is that symbol at the end of “Corner Store?”
It’s an exclamation point bent at a ninety degree angle.
Wow. When this page came up, “The Approaching Night” by Philip Wesley came on Pandora. Seriously, youtube it, it fits this page perfectly o_o
Panel 3: Eater of Worlds? o,o
I half expected a dirty joke…..

Poor Max. He’s still all new to this.
Meant to say new to all this.
NEW To All THIS!!
Did anyone else hear the Gravity Falls theme when they read this?
I love how you made his ride to school normal in the day, then all spectral view at night. Very good.
Why did the spirit chickens cross the road? To get to the “other side”. Get it?
I’d like to point out that that the Lochness monster is in the lake. Just saying.

Zack take my babies.
