Don’t run with scythes, Ed! You’ll poke your EYE out! (Yeah, I’m still doing that…)
Ed really showed off his more awesome side in this one – then slightly failed, which just made him even more awesome somehow. I’d be surprised if the spirit’s dead now, because, well, it’s already dead, but if I’m wrong, at least this concludes the fight in the most incredible way imaginable.
I just discovered this comic, and halfway through the first chapter I was already hooked. Great art, lively characters, zany antics, and a cool and mysteeeerious plot!
Grade A Professional-Quality stuff. You’re making a living off this, right? If not, we need to remedy that post-haste.
See, if Ed and Isabelle can do such interesting things with their tools, I wonder what the bat can do. Paper is sort of inherently versatile, which I suppose holds especially true when it’s strengthened and supported by magic. But even using only mundane means, you can build lots of things with paper. And painting is tied in to creation a lot. Ed can’t, say, bring things he draws to life, as far as we know, but his main limitation is in how creative he can get.
Bats, on the other hand, are mostly used for hitting things.
Y’know, Ed was my least favorite character so far. I liked him, but not because of his characterization. I mainly liked to see him because it was a guaranteed laugh. This page kind of promises a stronger character in the future by not really having a strong joke. Sure, seeing his quip fall flat is funny but it’s not the same humor we’ve seen from his past appearances. So despite my initial disappointment from seeing Ed come to the rescue rather than Isabel (which we really need more screen time from her so she can start showing her personality more), my opinion’s changed. Ed looks like he’s becoming more that comic relief, much to my… er, relief.
Also, sorry for being wordy over what could be nothing.
I’ve planned everything out from here to the end and made sure every character gets their fair share of development, Ed included. Though pretty much every character is comic relief in Paranatural. And there’s not much to be relieved from. I’m just relieving myself all over this comic, is what I’m saying.
Man, I’ve always wanted to see exactly that- drawing a weapon in the air, and then going to town with the drawn blade. This page is well drawn and personally cathartic. Great job, Zack!
ed done gone to town on that there whale frog fella
Love the first three panels here, very colorful and eyecatching. Great design to go with that scythe and seemless transitions through the entire page. Well done, well done indeed. (Becoming a fan of Ed.)
However Ed is using it, he seems genuinely surprised that it killed the Whale-toad! Could that squishy green spot be a vital vulnerability ti spectral beings?
By the way… you have a real knack for illustrating action!
Also loving the whole thing where Max follows that parkour philosophy but also has the whole “Why take the maze?” thing going on and then his tool turns out to be a bat.
You could say that…
YEEEEAAAAA- aww
I guess you could say HE’S…
just had the time of his SCYTHE!
*applause*
*Continued applause*
YEEEEAAAAH!
*puts on sunglasses*
B)

Afterwards, he split.
omfg
Don’t worry Ed, you’ll get there someday.
Ed has a real cutting wit there.
I guess you could say he had to split.
Anticlimactic and Epic at the same time. HOORAY! :D
You could say this was pretty…
…exSCYTHEing.
YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I guess you could say he had to split.
Redundant post is redundant.
Awww… I have a fan!
What happened to “your all gonna die”? This is only like one of of four. XD
One step at a time…
…Ed needs to come up with a witty one-liner for all of ‘em.
WHAT YOU JEEEEEeeeeerrrrk…..
lmao.
Ed is a badass.
Zack! I think you’ve been ripped off somehow! D:

Hahaha :) I’ve been hoping some mistyped searches for that movie lead people here. Looks great, though.
His brush with death didn’t go so well, don’t you ink?
(keep up the awesome work man; this comic is amazing!)
Haha, nice wordplay. And thanks!
Ed, no! The sunglasses! THE SUNGLASSES!
I agree
I like where I think you’re going with this.
And BTWFYI, the last few comics don’t show up on the archive page.
Oh, whoops. I have to add them manually and I keep forgetting.
I so want that weapon/tool
the things i could create
Mwuahahahahahahahahahahha
Don’t run with scythes, Ed! You’ll poke your EYE out! (Yeah, I’m still doing that…)

Yes, there’s a bit more too it than Ed’s last sentence suggests.
his face is spoilering that it’s not quite over
Yeah, I guess I see that now. *le gasp* Maybe he’s talking about himself in ten seconds now! DON’T DIE ON US, ED! YOU’RE MAX’S ONLY HOPE OF SURVI-
Oh, wait, they’ve got Isabel outside. The spirit’s still screwed. Durr.
That’s a pretty sharp comment.
Having seen the versatility of both Ed and Isabel’s tools, i’m dying to see what sort of things Max will end up doing with his bat.
Teehee
“Teehee” as in “it’s gonna be awesome”, or “Teehee” as in “LOL all it can do it hit things really hard” ???
Oh, man. I keep thinking about how awesome this would be as a movie or something.
Keep up the good work. This is honestly the only webcomic I’ve ever been interested in.
Helluva compliment, thanks.
Ah, to have had that brush at that age. The awesome just screams out loud!
I just discovered this comic, and halfway through the first chapter I was already hooked. Great art, lively characters, zany antics, and a cool and mysteeeerious plot!
Grade A Professional-Quality stuff. You’re making a living off this, right? If not, we need to remedy that post-haste.
Haha, thanks. I’m good doing this for fun at the moment.
That awkward moment when you kill someone and then realize he is still there?
Er….that awkward moment when you post a reply and then realize you replied to the wrong post…
lol XD
Oh Ed, I can barely keep up with your razor wit :D
This is one of my favourite comics. So bright, shiny and nightmare inducing
It looks like his arms switch position on the scythe though o.O
Very cool but I’m confused
That was… surprisingly easy. Not the BEST last words you could have chosen, whale-fish-thing.

Bats, on the other hand, are mostly used for hitting things.
And that about sums it up, yep. But the bat must do something. I could see a plot about them figuring out what he can do with it.
FYI the punchline is that there is no punchline.
Now that’s a-spirit De Corpse.

lolz
By “every character” you mean all of the characters? Because I’ve had my eye on R.J. ever since he showed up.
PS: I think I know his name is R.J. only because of the cast page.
Yeah, all the characters. Even Starchman.
Starchman better be important.
He’s the teacher I would kill to be.
They’re all at least important to the plot all the way through.
Man, I’ve always wanted to see exactly that- drawing a weapon in the air, and then going to town with the drawn blade. This page is well drawn and personally cathartic. Great job, Zack!
ed done gone to town on that there whale frog fella
Ey fanks
Oh ya cause I’m the jerk, mister racist, murdering toad.
Love the first three panels here, very colorful and eyecatching. Great design to go with that scythe and seemless transitions through the entire page. Well done, well done indeed. (Becoming a fan of Ed.)
Just noticed that the Pajamas are from rude dog…. ಠ_ಠ
is it going to be one of those moments:
“If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine”
?
Considering what happens to him on page 27, this comment has become suddenly incredibly funny.
whale-dude is dead. I’m guessing Ed just realized how much of a mess he was making.
Wait…is that supposed to be a scythe or an axe? Either way, I love how Ed’s tool seems to work.
It’s like a, uh, scythish axe. He’s using it like an axe, at least.
However Ed is using it, he seems genuinely surprised that it killed the Whale-toad! Could that squishy green spot be a vital vulnerability ti spectral beings?
By the way… you have a real knack for illustrating action!
OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS COMIC
BEST COMIC
This is like Soul Eater done right.
I just love everything about it.
IDE/THEORY: Mr. Splendid always wears sunglasses because he can’t stop seeing that freaky sunshine world Max glimpsed.
I will be following this comic very closely.
Also loving the whole thing where Max follows that parkour philosophy but also has the whole “Why take the maze?” thing going on and then his tool turns out to be a bat.
I just.
Love everything here.
Let me touch your face.
Also, best one-liner for edged-weapon-related killing ever:
“Hate to cut and run…”
:D Thanks for reading.
“Mr. Splendid”
I lol’d
Please don’t even get me started on how many times I have lol’d.
:0)
Me likes this comic.
He’s gonna have a SPLITTING headache…huh…yeah…?
…I’m gonna stop now…
Is it just me or do Ed’s hands switch position on the handle of the brush in panel 5?
Wow, and they do.
The Alt-text reminded me of the titles of the Ed, Edd and Eddy episodes.
On Panel 5 it looks like Ed’s pajamas are eating his face off. o,o
This is the most amazing thing I’ve seen all week.
I was reading the comments, and my god, I think punning has become a trend on your comic. Hilarious! xDD
Also, an eye for an eye… I guess.
And sometimes you just got to cut loose.
I love it when they subvert making a pun by not making one.
So inspiring its uninspiring my drive to do my own webcomic. This is reaching over the epic horizon. Love the flow, the art, and the creativity
Thanks.
The three colors of the first three panel’s backgrounds are Isaac Ed and Isabel’s spectral energy colors.
IDK if someone else did this one, but…
“I think Ed was ordered to kill him…
On scythe!!
YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!”
