When a story is fantastical or supernatural (Or Paranatural as the case may be HAW HAW) I’m a sucker for the “mechanics” of that universe. Explanations and backgrounds and all that. We’ve already gotten a lot of that through Spender or Issac’s explanations, which is great. Details that don’t sacrifice the mystery of a story are a big thing for me. And stack combo attacks on top of that? Baby you got a stew going.

I don’t know if you’ve already started doing this, but it might be a good idea to draw simple reference pics or ground-plans for any location you plan to use, with all the major features marked out on it. Not only will it help you keep track of what’s in the location and where it is within it for future use, but it might also help to plan out where you want your characters to move (although you’ve had that pretty down pat since at least the beginning of the comic).
Actually, the way the room was set up as we saw it in chapter 1 had two identical green sofas, and I don’t know if we ever saw which one was closer to the door. So let’s just assume for the sake of argument that the other green sofa is the one with its back to the whiteboard?
Impossible. In chapter 1 it was clear that the whiteboard in question was behind the green sofa whose right-hand side was near the door (check the first panel here: http://paranatural.net/chapter-1-page-65/). Since the sofas are, like you said, identical, this means that in this page the whiteboard is, in fact, missing.
Maybe it’s a move-able whiteboard?

The coloration now make him look like a yu-gi-oh character. I think it’s weird you have so many brown-haired characters with natural tones, yet all the blondes and redheads have super vibrant primary colors for theirs.

Yeah I think his hair is supposed to look a bit Yu-gi-oh, considering that Isaac is the one with all the anime angst and flowery backgrounds.
I’ll probably give you a donation in a few days when I get paid. Just please don’t let this be the start of you turning into one of those webcomic artists that’s constantly begging for money and kickstarter support. Honestly that sort of behavior is just annoying and pathetic.
Honestly, it’s the only way a lot of comics artists get paid at all. What’s pathetic is that Zach is putting this webcomic on the internet FOR FREE and people like you complain when he asks for donations.

Zach has not asked for a single donation, and frankly, given the quality of the drawings, characters and story, I wouldn’t mind in the least if he asked for donation either to him directly or toward a Kickstarter. He’s weaving a visual story for us out of the kindness of his heart, and unlike most of those other “begging” webcomics, this comic is worth making a donation toward.
It would give me something to spend my rare mad money on other than Guild Wars 2 Gems. :)

Crazy theory time: R.J. really is a girl, and it turns out she is Doorman’s master! Why? Just ’cause! (no, more likely Rule of Crazy, but we don’t have a trope for that…)
I’m fairly sure that the “Master” that he was expecting, and the female that possessed-Max was talking about are two different entities, considering “Master” is a masculine word and Doorman probably would have said “Mistress.” There can easily be exceptions to that but that’s how I’m currently thinking.
However, I do hope R.J. has some sort of secret, or that the Bully-Friends group stays relevant. I need dat friendship fusion.
True, but the Voice mentions a ‘she’ only after Doorman said that “[his] master does not fear broken gods.”. In fact, it’s directly after it. And as you’ve noted, there are exceptions to the ‘master’/'mistress’ distinction. I’m more inclined to think the Voice was referring to Doorman’s master, though I may be wrong…
Regardless, we need more R.J.! At least his/her name (not just initials)!

So, a little question to zack, just wondering about the whole idea of spectral energy color. Are there sustain kinds of power that are associated with spectral energy color? Are there surtain colors that are rarer or more powerful then others (blue and black seem to be strong, as well as white) and are there….. Classes of spirits? Like would spirits with red energy be considered a “lower class” then those with blue?
There’s something special about one of the colors but the rest are all basically the same. If there ends up being some thematic link or ranking between the other colors it will be improvised, since I have no plans for doing that now. With spirits that aren’t just random background scenery, I suspect I will be tempted to make them colors that relate to their attributes. Fish and aquatic spirits will have blue energy, more aggressive spirits have warm colors, etc. We’ll see, I dunno. Haha

Obviously the special color is magenta.
It’s the only color in a traditional color wheel that is not represented by a light ray. Light rays come in every color of the rainbow, but that leaves a sort of coloration gap between red and purple, which ends up being a dark pinkish color often identified as magenta.
My guess, anyway.
Hmmm, maybe, that sounds like a good idea….. I was thinking purple myself. It’s the color of the shades that spectrals a see in the early stages of their development….. Maybe because it is the most powerful color and thus it is the easiest to see. It would make pj important as well, which can only be classified as a good thing

Considering Zack’s a fan of X-Men, I would guess some variation of eye beam powers, either heat vision (Superman) or optic blasts (Cyclops) :p
Okay. Things gleaned from this conversation:
1. Mr. Spender is talking to someone who outranks him. This means that he has a superior to whom he answers. Could be the Mr. Walker mentioned in ch. 1, page 50 and again by Isaac.
2. The person Mr. Spender is talking to is just as straightlaced as he is, given they were arguing about words like “Gosh dang”.
3. The Cousinhood appears to be a faction/alliance/group, possibly a group of spectrals, most likely the vigilantes that Mr. Spender mentions (hence the remark about trenchcoats). B.L. doesn’t seem to be affiliated with them, but he may be someone on Mr. Spender’s team who is in a position to permit the Cousinhood access to Mayview to investigate. He’s sympathetic to them at least, Spender does not appreciate.
4. Cousinhood has a grievance they are acting on, or an investigation they’re undertaking, but they’re being cagy about the reason (habeus a gosh dang corpus; habeus corpus, literally means “present the body”, metaphorically to announce one’s grievances). Whatever this is, they’re coming into Mayview to do this, which may well be the subject of the argument.
5. Spectrals are arranged into groups by location, and have a defined ‘turf’ which they may or may not allow others into. Spender is part of the group over Mayview; he may well be stationed at the middle school to catch incoming spectrals and manage them as they come in. This is probably also why he’s not telling them everything; since even a young spectral can do a lot of damage, he needs to give them a reason to come back to him as part of disaster management. Being the spectral expert (and also, as Isaac says, ‘keeping you from getting eaten until your powers come in’)
6. Person Spender is talking to seems more willing to trust the Cousinhood/is possibly taking B.L.’s side of this. Mr. Spender is pretty fired up, and also shooting from the hip an awful lot for speaking to his superior. I feel like they’re usually less formal in their interactions, hence guy-on-the-phone only mentioning as an afterthought “I outrank you”, cuing “OUTRANK MY FIST”
And also we’ve learned that Mr. Spender’s got some fire in him. I don’t think shaking him down for information is the best plan, Isaac.
for number one I think maybe they are the same rank also whats the B.L.
But that raises the question of “Outrank my FIST!”. Given we’re pretty sure that otherguy was telling Mr. Spender to watch his language (You can’t use those words in a middle school!), it stands to reason that he’d follow with “I outrank you, you should listen to me”.
Also, The Docotr, you might want to look into use of the reply button. It would allow your insights to far more easily reach those you are addressing.
“B.L.” is referenced in panel 6 and the context (“Since when did B.L. start caring about the gut feelings of vigilantes”) seems to suggest that B.L. is a person, though they could be a group. To answer your question: I don’t know I’m just a weirdo with theories.
