Chuckling throughout all of it, then broke into full laughter when I saw the EoE panel. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a reference to Evangelion that didn’t feel ham-fisted. Loved this one.

Nah ‘boyo, that there be a reference to End of Evangelion, tie in movie and “official” ending to the poorly received last 2 episodes of Neon Genesis Evangelion, uber popular Mind Screw mecha anime popular in the late 90s.
That there image you linked is, in and of itself, a reference to EoE.
omfg haha was that really in Evangelion? Wouldn’t put it past them. Well thanks for the clarification. I tried watching that one but it was painful about halfway through so I stopped. now I wish I’d seen at least that scene…
